Elizabeth Woodville, Countess Rivers and 8th Baroness Scales (died 1473), born Elizabeth de Scales, was the sole heir of the 7th Baron Scales.[1]
Elizabeth first married Henry Bourchier, second son of the 1st Earl of Essex.
Upon Bourchier's death Elizabeth remarried to the 2nd Earl Rivers, brother of Elizabeth Woodville, wife of King Edward IV. Rivers was declared Lord Scales in Elizabeth's right and had summons to Parliament by that title.
Lord and Lady Rivers had no children and when Lady Rivers died her husband remarried to Mary, daughter of Henry Fitz-Lewis, but, again, no issue was forthcoming.
Lord Rivers was beheaded by King Richard III at Pontefract on 24 June 1483.
Lord and Lady Rivers's lands were left to Lord Rivers's brother, Edward Woodville, but the Barony of Scales fell into abeyance.
